Rothe-Erde traces its origins back to the 19th century in Germany, when it was founded as a manufacturer of metal rings and heavy industrial components for the growing industry. They are the world’s largest manufacturer of this type of bearing. They can also produce customized solutions for specific applications. They can manufacture a bearing in one single piece up to a diameter of 8 m, and in segmented design up to 18 m.

A slewing bearing is a type of rotational bearing with roller or ball elements, designed for the rotation of large and slow-moving loads. It consists of an inner and outer ring and rolling elements.

Generally, there are single-row and double-row rolling element bearings. The bearings are pre-machined with mounting holes (either through-holes or threaded holes). If rotation is driven via the slewing ring, the inner or outer ring can also be equipped with gear teeth.
