Spherical roller bearings with a tapered bore (taper 1:12 or 1:30) are widely used wherever simple mounting on the shaft and precise clearance adjustment are required. Correct mounting is essential: a bearing that is too loose will creep on the shaft, while one that is too tight will overheat and fail early.
