Sustainable Supply
By partnering with suppliers who share our values and meet our sustainability standards, we make sure all links in the chain pursue the same goals – a sustainable supply chain.
Together with our suppliers, we continuously improve the quality and safety of our products and work towards a supply chain that meets the requirements of our Supplier Code of Conduct. In our experience, suppliers who perform well in sustainability typically also perform well in quality.
A large part of the sustainability impact of the products we distribute occurs in our supply chain, which we do not control directly. We leave nothing to chance, however – our systematic approach is described in our Sustainable Supply Chain Guidelines.
The aim of the guidelines is to develop long-term relationships with our suppliers and to improve their sustainability performance, including health and safety, environment, social and business ethics. The guidelines from the code of conduct should be observed by all our suppliers, and we therefore regularly carry out sustainability audits and propose corrective actions for suppliers in higher-risk countries.
Local presence delivering results
To safeguard quality and sustainability during the manufacture of our products in Asia, Axel Johnson International has a local office in Ningbo, China. Our local representatives work closely with our suppliers and guide them in meeting our requirements. Through our local presence we can verify and systematically work towards responsible production, good working conditions and human rights – ensuring suppliers respect our code of conduct.
“We make our suppliers aware of their risks and use diligent on-site inspections to show them opportunities for improvement. We require corrective action plans and conduct follow-up audits. So far, we have observed strong commitment and significant progress at many of our suppliers.”
