Support Rings

Support rings are protective elements used in combination with seals (most commonly O-rings or rod seals) to prevent their extrusion into the gap between machine parts. At high system pressures or large clearances between components, softer seals can deform and get damaged; the support ring fills this gap and provides stable support for the seal. They are available in spiral, cut, or solid designs. They are made from materials with high strength and resistance to plastic deformation, such as PTFE, polyamide (PA), or hard polyurethane (PU), allowing the use of sealing systems under significantly higher loads.
